NEW MOON
As the Sabbath gives us an opportunity at the end of every week to celebrate God’s faithfulness, the festival of New Moon gives us that opportunity at the end of every month. To many people, the name of this holiday brings to mind “new age” or cultic observances, and yet the holiday was well established by the time of King David. In fact, the Lord instructed the people to make for themselves silver trumpets and to blow the them in “the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts and at the beginning of your months.” (Numbers 10:2, 10). Sadly, there was a time when the people defiled God’s feasts and celebrations by worshipping His creation rather than Him the Creator. In His displeasure God rejected their worship and put an end to the feasts. But there will be a day when God will once again be worshipped in the beauty of holiness.
“For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord “So shall your descendants and your name remain. And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord. Isaiah 66:22-23
We see that wonderful day approaching with the resumption of the feast of New Moon as believers are celebrating Jesus!
