FIRSTFRUITS
You are already familiar with the Feast of Firstfruits but probably refer to it by a different name — Resurrection Day or Easter. Firstfruits is celebrated on the first day after the Sabbath of Passover. Although Passover might fall on any day of the week, the Sabbath and therefore Firstfruits will never change. The Sabbath is always Friday sundown to Saturday sundown making Firstfruits always on Saturday sundown to Sunday sundown. In other words, Firstfruits is always on the first day of the week. Firstfruits is the first of the three harvest festivals when Jewish men were to come to Jerusalem. This first Firstfruits festival also commemorates Israel’s coming into the Promised Land after their forty years in the wilderness. Thus it is a celebration of God’s faithfulness to His promises:
- His Presence
- His protection
- His Provision
